The Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro (FISIP UNDIP), successfully organized an International Online Visiting Lecture Program on Thursday, 18 September 2025 through the Zoom platform. The program carried the theme “Human Capital and Labor: Current and Future Challenges, and Strategic Responses”, reflecting the faculty’s commitment to advancing academic discourse on contemporary issues in labor and human capital development.

The event started with an opening remark by Dr. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin., Dean of FISIP Universitas Diponegoro, who underscored the significance of equipping students and scholars with a global perspective on labor market dynamics and human capital management in an era marked by technological disruption and social transformation.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Che Mohd Syaharuddin Che Cob, MMIHRM, Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Business and Management, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, and former Head of Postgraduate Studies. With his extensive expertise in human resource management, Dr. Syaharuddin elaborated on two interrelated themes:

  1. Human Capital and Labor Practices: Global Trends and Best Practices
  2. Managing Human Capital Development: Current and Future Challenges with Strategic Responses

The lecture highlighted several global trends shaping the labor force, including post-pandemic recovery and the emergence of hybrid work models, rapid technological change particularly with Generative AI, and the integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into workforce strategies. Furthermore, key challenges such as skills mismatch, youth unemployment, job quality and inequality, and workforce well-being in the new work paradigm were thoroughly examined.

In addressing these issues, Dr. Syaharuddin emphasized the importance of education reform, the expansion of lifelong learning initiatives, the strengthening of labor market institutions, and the alignment of workforce development strategies with Industry 4.0 demands. These strategic responses, he noted, require close collaboration among governments, educational institutions, industries, and communities to ensure the creation of resilient and inclusive labor markets.

The session was moderated by Wildan Avian Pratama, S.AB., M.A., lecturer at the Department of Business Administration, FISIP UNDIP, who facilitated an engaging discussion and interactive dialogue between the speaker and participants. This international academic forum attracted considerable participation from students, faculty members, and practitioners, fostering critical reflection on the future of work and the strategic management of human capital.

Through this initiative, FISIP Universitas Diponegoro reaffirms its role as a center of excellence in research and education, committed to preparing future leaders, policymakers, and professionals capable of addressing the complexities of human capital and labor in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
